Welcome to your next challenge
SUPTwelve returns in 2027 with a spectacular new home at Meadfoot Beach and a course designed to make this our best and most challenging event yet.
Alongside SUPSix and SUP10km, SUPTwelve brings together endurance, determination and the welcoming paddling community that makes these events special. Whether you are chasing a podium finish, testing your limits or taking on a personal challenge, expect a memorable day on the English Riviera.
This is true ocean engagement. It could be a pan flat day, all day or tidal flow, changing sea conditions and the combination of local winds and wider weather systems. Your technique, pacing, decisions and mental strength will matter just as much as your fitness.
The challenge has stepped up. Are you ready?
The course
The planned lap is approximately 3.5km, starting from Meadfoot Beach, heading around Shag Rock, continuing around Thatcher Rock and returning to the beach.
This fantastic coastal route takes paddlers beyond the beachfront and into an environment where conditions can change between different parts of the same lap.
Around the rocks, tidal flow and wind can influence your progress, balance and choice of line. One section may help you along while another makes you work for every metre.
Compared with previous editions, laps could be harder and slower. At Meadfoot, the achievement will be in how you respond to the course, manage your energy and keep going.
The final course, race direction and any adjustments will be confirmed by the event team following assessment of the conditions.
Choose your challenge
SUPTwelve
Twelve hours. One objective: complete as many laps as you can.
Starting at 7am and finishing at 7pm, SUPTwelve tests endurance, strategy and your ability to keep moving as conditions and energy levels change.
Every completed lap will be professionally timed and recorded. You can stop, refuel and rest between laps, but the clock keeps running.
Entry fee: £110 per competitor.
SUPSix
Six hours of determination on the same demanding coastal course.
Starting at 1pm and finishing at 7pm, SUPSix offers a substantial endurance challenge over a shorter duration. Pacing, efficient paddling and well-managed breaks will all play a part.
The start time, entry price and full race arrangements will be confirmed before the event.
Entry fee: £65 per competitor.
SUP10km
A shorter-distance challenge with the same ocean character.
Starting at 10am, SUP10km gives paddlers the opportunity to experience three laps of this outstanding course in a distance-based race. For the 10km, you will not come in each lap so each lap distance is under the 3.5km course distance, equating to 10km overall.
Entry fee: £25 per competitor.
Experience and eligibility
The event retains its friendly, welcoming atmosphere, but this new course requires appropriate coastal paddling competence.
Competitors must:
- Be aged 18 or over.
- Be able to paddle confidently. You don’t need to be a coastal paddler; this is not a problem as this is a great way for you to experience coastal conditions in a controlled environment with a safety team watching over you.
- Have the fitness and preparation needed for their chosen challenge.
- Follow instructions from the race, water safety and medical teams.
If you are unsure whether the event suits your experience, contact us for a chat before entering.
Essential equipment
Every competitor must have:
- A seaworthy board appropriate to the course and conditions.
- A paddle.
- A leash that meets the event’s published safety requirements.
- A worn buoyancy aid or PFD accepted under the event’s safety requirements.
- Clothing suitable for the conditions, with spare layers available ashore.
- Enough food and drink for their chosen event.
Any additional equipment requirements will be issued in the competitor briefing. Remember after each lap (SUPTwelve/SUPSix) you come back to your transition station so you can change and sort kit after each lap.
Registration and briefing
All competitors must register before racing.
Planned registration arrangements:
- Friday 30 April: Evening registration, time and location to be confirmed.
- Saturday 1 May: SUPTwelve registration from 5.45am to 6.30am at Meadfoot Beach.
- SUPSix and SUP10km: TBC.
SUPTwelve’s final pre-start briefing is planned for 6.50am.
Competitors will receive event and safety information before race day. Attendance at the briefing for your event is compulsory.
Beach transitions and Board Butlers
Competitors will return to the beach at the end of each lap, following the marked timing and transition arrangements.
Our Board Butlers will help paddlers enter and leave the water, hold boards during quick turnarounds and assist with board storage during breaks.
Please be patient and follow their instructions, particularly when several paddlers arrive together. Conditions at the beach may make transitions part of the challenge.
Paddling on your knees
We recognise that competitors may need to kneel temporarily, including when recovering from a fall or responding to conditions.
Under the event’s standing-paddling rule, competitors who make forward progress while paddling on their knees will not be eligible for a podium finish.
Safety always comes first. Take the action needed to remain safe and follow the event team’s instructions.
Boards and paddles
The event welcomes different board types, including hard boards and inflatables, provided they are suitable for the course and conditions.
Competitors should enter with one board. Any permitted equipment swaps or brand demonstration opportunities will be explained in the final race rules.
Race numbers and event clothing
Race numbers will be issued at registration and must remain clearly visible throughout the event.
Instructions for displaying your number and wearing the event shirt at the start will be included in the competitor information.
Bring spare clothing so you can remain comfortable throughout the day.
Food, hydration and rest
Your beach base is your opportunity to refuel, change clothing and recover before heading out again.
For the endurance events:
- Eating takes place ashore in the paddlers’ rest area.
- Drinking water may be carried on the board.
- You may stop and rest between laps for as long as you choose.
- The race clock continues during all breaks.
Final rules on drinks and nutrition will be confirmed before the event.
Music and headphones
Headphones and personal music are not permitted while racing on the water.
Competitors must be able to hear safety instructions and remain aware of other paddlers and their surroundings.
Paddlers’ rest area
Competitors will have an allocated space ashore to establish their event base.
Bring a chair, food, drinks, spare clothing and whatever you need to manage your challenge. Space will be limited, so please keep your setup compact.
Full details of the area and available facilities will be provided before the event.
Timing, results and awards
SUPTwelve and SUPSix results will be based on completed laps, and the race that ensures if competitions are on the same lap count entering the last lap.
SUP10km results will be based on finishing time over the confirmed course.
The final list of individual, age-group, relay and any additional craft categories will be published with the 2027 entry information.
Every competitor will receive an event medal. Awards arrangements will be confirmed before race day.
Medical and water safety cover
Medical and water safety provision will operate throughout the event.
The medical team may ask a competitor to stop for assessment. Competitors must cooperate, and any decision requiring them to stop racing is final.
Your health matters more than another lap.
Parking, board drop-off and facilities
Parking, unloading arrangements, toilets and competitor facilities at Meadfoot will be detailed in the pre-event information.
Please follow local parking restrictions and the event team’s directions. There are several free, overnight parking areas for campers but please do not assume overnight camping or van stays are permitted without checking.

Course change
Due to the conditions, it may be essential to change the course shape or distance through the 12 hrs. This is at the event safety officers call and is to enable all paddlers to remain safe at all times.

If you require to cancel your place, we allow you to transfer your place to someone else up to 7 days before the event. No refunds can be offered, only transferred to another competitor, this costs us £5 to transfer in fees so this fee will be transferred to the new competitor.
