Adventure Endurance SUP Event – Torbay

Overview

Enter The Lost Buoys, an adventure-inspired endurance stand-up paddleboard challenge like no other. Paddlers have six hours to hunt down and collect as many buoy points as possible across the beautiful bay of Torbay. Each buoy is worth points, with those further from the start carrying higher rewards. Competitors must plan their own route, test their endurance and outsmart the rest to claim victory.

Adding to the excitement, some buoys hold instant-win prizes (such as cash or gear) while others give bonus points to boost your total. It’s part strategy, part stamina, part treasure hunt… all adventure!

But beware… there are vampires on the water. These roaming paddlers will be on the hunt to “catch” competitors. If they reach you, they’ll steal the last buoy you found, taking away its points and any prize linked to it.

It’s endurance. It’s orienteering. It’s tactical.

Event Format

Total Duration: 6 hours

Structure:

·      3 hours paddling

(45-minute rest and leaderboard update)

·      2 hours paddling

(30-minute rest and leaderboard update)

·      1 hour final paddle to finish

During rest breaks, competitors can refuel, check standings and plan their next move while the leaderboard updates in real time.

Scoring

·      Each buoy is worth points, the further away, the higher the value.

·      Some buoys include instant-win prizes or bonus points.

·      Lose a buoy if caught by a vampire paddler- both points and prizes are deducted!

·      Up to 30 Lost Buoys to find throughout the course.

Conditions of Entry

·      Hard or inflatable boards welcome BUT competitors must use boards that are 26 inches wide or wider.  This is to create a more even speed for all!

·      Suitable for all, experience and confident for open-water Bay conditions essential. PFD (personal flotation device), leash and charged phone in a waterproof case required.

·      All paddlers must attend a safety briefing before the start.

Uniting an 80s film classic (The Lost Boys) with adventure stand up paddle boarding, The Lost Buoys delivers six hours of excitement and strategy on the water. To do well, you’ll need fitness, sharp planning and a bit of luck but without the pressure of a start line. This is a race with a twist: it’s not just about speed, it’s about tactics, endurance and smart decision-making… all while keeping one eye out for the vampires!
