The Long Row is Brendon's boldest challenge yet. In summer 2026, he will attempt a solo row the coast of mainland Britain and Ireland, pushing physical endurance, mental resilience plus ocean knowledge to their limits. This journey is about far more than distance or records. It is a platform to inspire respect for the water, build confidence in blue spaces plus spark vital conversations around water safety preparation plus personal responsibility. Every mile rowed will amplify the work of the charity Above Water using adventure to engage communities, schools plus decision makers with a clear simple message.

The Mission

LONG ROW is a pioneering solo rowing challenge to circumnavigate the coast of Britain and Ireland in one continuous expedition.

1. The Challenge
   Row solo around the entire coastline of Britain and Ireland in one continuous attempt.
   The expedition will be unsupported, with no safety boat or escort, landing only on beaches to refuel with food/ water and to rest.
   The row will be completed as fast as conditions allow, while demonstrating that with the right knowledge, preparation and decision making, long distance coastal journeys can be undertaken safely.
2. The Purpose
   With every rowing stroke, Long Row will promote water safety and drowning prevention.
   Each year, an average of 700 people lose their lives in water related incidents across Britain and Ireland.
   This expedition will shine a spotlight on those statistics, using adventure to start conversations about risk awareness, decision making, cold water shock, tides, weather and self rescue.
3. The Impact
   Long Row will raise vital funds for Above Water, a charity dedicated to delivering water safety education and drowning prevention programmes to schools and communities.
   Funds raised will help ensure children and young people gain the understanding they need to enjoy water safely for life.
